GENERAL INFORMATION:
Bevill State Community College is an accredited comprehensive learning-centered institution dedicated to providing quality educational opportunities and services that enrich lives intellectually, culturally, and economically. In fulfillment of this mission, the college offers academic and technical programs and activities. The college serves a population that is diverse in age and race as well as in economic and educational backgrounds.

QUALIFICATIONS:    The Project Coordinator will have a minimum of a Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the area of counseling or a field directly related to academic, career, or personal counseling. In addition to adhering to these minimum requirements, the Project Coordinator should have experience working with disadvantaged students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The position of Project Coordinator requires the following essential job functions: Communicate orally; communicate in writing; demonstrate knowledge of the English language; possess essential computer skills; demonstrate basic math skills; office management skills; organizational skills used in program management; possess personality traits needed for effective counseling of adolescents as well as traits needed for effective program team work; ability to lift and move materials weighing up to twenty pounds; and comply with all policies of the State Board of Education, the Department of Postsecondary Education, and the College.

DUTIES: In addition to adhering to the guidelines as specified by Bevill State Community College Personnel Handbook and the State Board of Education, duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.        Selecting participants, assessing their individual needs, and prescribing individualized services.
2.        Providing academic, career, personal, and financial aid counseling for program participants.
3.        Obtaining all pertinent proof of eligibility documentation for participants.
4.        Maintaining all prescribed records for program participants and any other records as may be necessary to achieve the objectives of the program.
5.        Monitoring progress of program participants as they work toward achievement of their individual goals.
6.        Planning and organizing seminars, field trips, banquets, etc.
7.        Conducting Summer Component activities.
8.        Organize and make work-study mentoring assignments.
9.        Conducting Summer Bridge activities.
10.        Coordinating Upward Bound tutoring services.
11.        Scheduling extra help sessions for participants with grade deficiencies.
12.        Monitoring On-Site Coordinators and Tutors providing advice when needed.
13.        Conducting training workshops for On-Site Coordinators and Tutors.
14.        Tracking graduated Upward Bound participants.
15.        Perform other program-essential tasks as may be prescribed by the Project Director, the Federal Programs Coordinator, President of Bevill State Community College, or the U.S. Department of Education.

SALARY RANGE: Minimum $28,000 –maximum $32,000 based on experience and educational level for placement on the Alabama State Salary Schedule C3.
