GENERAL INFORMATION:
Bevill State Community College is an accredited comprehensive learning-centered institution dedicated to providing quality educational opportunities and services that enrich lives intellectually, culturally, and economically. In fulfillment of this mission, the college offers academic and technical programs and activities. The college serves a population that is diverse in age and race as well as in economic and educational backgrounds.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in a teaching field is required. At least three years of instructional and/or administrative experience with Blackboard, or a similar platform is required. Ability to assist students in trouble shooting is required. Ability to prepare instructors and staff in online procedures and platform usage is required. Experience in organizing professional development activities and using engaged learning in a classroom setting preferred.

DUTIES: In addition to adhering to the guidelines as specified by Bevill State Community College Personnel Handbook and the State Board of Education, duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

1.        Work with faculty and instructional staff to develop and promote a comprehensive College-wide Professional Development Plan.
2.        Develop and maintain a comprehensive Distance Education Plan that includes policies and procedures, and all functions of development, implementation, quality control measures, assessment, and provides quality measures found in Best Practices Standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
3.        Develop and maintain, in coordination with appropriate College personnel, an online approach to academic advising from orientation to         graduation.
4.        Develop and maintain a comprehensive Distance Education Faculty Handbook, Faculty Orientation Process, and a Distance Education Student User Handbook.
5.        Develop, in coordination with appropriate College personnel, online courses and degrees.
6.        Recruit online instructors and develop reciprocal agreements for online offerings in surrounding states.
7.        In conjunction with Instructional Designers and faculty, provide consultation in course structure, design, implementation, delivery, and assessment.
8.        Conduct observations of traditional, IITS, hybrid, and online classes and provide input into the evaluation process.
9.        Through the completion of the training checklist, verify training of instructors eligible to teach online courses.
10.        Develop curriculum standards and coordinate the distribution of materials that promote effective learning.
11.        Ensure that effective teaching and learning practices and procedures are implemented and evaluated.
12.        Teach a minimum of one course per semester in credentialed academic field.
13.        Act as a representative for the College to ensure compliance with standards and regulations as they apply to distance learning as required from such appropriate agencies as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the Alabama State Board of Education, and the Department of Postsecondary Education.
14.        Assist with the resolution of student discipline and academic integrity issues related to Distance Education, IITS, and hybrid courses.
15.        Maintain responsibility for institutional effectiveness reporting, including submission of appropriate goals and objectives.
16.        Serve as the chair of the Advisory Committee for Distance Education and schedule its meetings.
17.        Create and maintain a consistent appearance and accessibility of all online courses.
18.        Research and promote engaged learning activities that will benefit the effective delivery of instructional material.
19.        Develop and maintain a Teaching and Learning Blog on the College’s website.
20.        Develop and submit an annual, comprehensive budget including software, hardware, instructional costs, and any other appropriate expenditure commensurate with the Strategic Plan.
21.        Assist in enforcing all College policies.
22.        Attend staff meetings as requested and participate in College and community activities.
23.        Continue professional development through professional organizations, seminars, etc., to maintain and improve skills.
24.        Assume all other duties assigned by appropriate supervisor.

SALARY RANGE: Minimum $72,356-maximum $103,788 based on experience and educational level for placement on the Alabama State Salary Schedule C1.
