Description
Park University, a nationally recognized leader in distance and online education, seeks a highly qualified Associate Provost for Distance Learning to assist the University in its leadership in a rapidly changing global and technological environment.
Reporting to the Provost and serving on the University’s Executive Staff, the Associate Provost for Distance Learning will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic planning for Park Distance Learning, which houses all of Park’s distance learning operations, including campus centers outside the Kansas City area, and online.
Park University, founded in 1875, has a long history of academic excellence and a commitment to lifelong learning. It teaches students through its comprehensive online program and through 41 campus centers nationwide, primarily on military installations.
Sixty percent of Park’s students take online, as well as face–to-face classes. The students in online and extended campuses study in an accelerated eight-week format throughout the year (five terms). Park has more than 50,000 online course enrollments and we serve students in all U.S. military branches.
The successful candidate will supervise a large staff, including the Dean of Distance Learning who is responsible for the day-to-day management of Park Distance Learning.
Requirements for the position include:
Earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree;
Minimum of five years of administrative experience in higher education, preferably related to online programs and education for adult learners;
Experience in budgeting;
Experience in strategic planning;
Experience in developing external partnerships;
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with others in a complex organization;
Evidence of leadership ability within an academic setting;
Excellent managerial skills;
