Description
Antioch University Santa Barbara is seeking a full-time Core Faculty to teach in the Undergraduate Program in Liberal Studies and coordinate undergraduate distance education. Preferred academic discipline is business/management or communication/new media. The department curriculum is based on the core values of critical and creative thinking; global awareness; holistic personal development; competence for professional pursuits, effective communication; and praxis for social justice.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
a. Teaching: Teach 8 courses per year of upper division undergraduate level. Additional independent studies as needed.
b. Advising: Serve as faculty advisor to assigned undergraduate students.
c. Curriculum: Participate in departmental curriculum development with focus on technology-mediated learning.
d. Distance Education Coordinator: Work with program chair, core and adjunct faculty to develop and launch distance education courses and programs. Help train adjunct faculty to teach hybrid/online courses. Collaborate with faculty to convert courses from face-to-face to distance modalities. Work collegially with campus community in setting direction and making and carrying out decisions regarding distance learning.
e. Other Duties as needed: Able to serve on campus and university-wide committees. Participate in program development, grant-writing, assessment, marketing, recruiting and other campus initiatives.

a. A Master's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university (Doctorate preferred).
b. Higher education faculty and distance education experience.
c. Experience with learning management systems. Knowledge of Sakai a plus.
d. Recognized success as an instructor.
e. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
f. Experience in instructional design, curriculum development.
g. Expertise in student-centered distance learning practices.
h. Knowledge of current distance education theories and practices.
i. Commitment to life-long learning.
j. Familiarity with adult learning.
k. Sound presentation, relationship-building and networking abilities, ability to get along well with others, to be a positive member of the Antioch Santa Barbara community.
