| SEARCHING TOOLS: Institutions can search the SmarterFaculty database by factors such as academic area, online teaching background, learning management system and experience. Each variable on the applicant's SmarterFaculty portfolio is a searchable field. Using these powerful search features you can find the persons who are a good fit for your program. While the primary use of SmarterFaculty is the identification of online faculty, some institutions use SmarterFaculty to find potential faculty in their geographic area. |  |

| ALERTING TOOLS: If you search the database for an individual with a specific (perhaps rare) qualification such as a PhD in �Postmodern Theology,� and there is currently no one in the database meeting that criteria, you can turn on an alert and the minute someone with that qualification creates a profile you will be informed via email. |  |
| COMPARISON TOOLS: One of the challenges of dealing with paper-based applications and resumes is viewing all of the candidates qualifications at a glance. SmarterFaculty provides a grid viewing tool which allows you to identify factors in the profile which are important to you. | SORTING TOOLS: SmarterFaculty�s folder structure allows you to create custom folders into which you can place and sort potential online faculty candidates. For example, you may be searching for an accounting instructor and a math instructor. You can simply create a folder for each search and send selected candidates to that folder for storage.
